Chapter 2

Chapter 2:
___________________________________________________________________________________

Kiara was very unpleased when she found out she had no other classes with her sisters and all the rest of them had Logan in them. She was almost tempted to rip her schedule to shreds, she was so angry but how could that help her? So she endured 3 more classes with Logan’s ever growing creepy stare on her back. Then came the last class of the day, 7th period Geography. This was a class that Kiara did fairly well in but not as good as Lacey was.

The students sat in their chairs, anxiously waiting for the teacher to come already. There was a rumor going around that he was really young, cool and (as the girls rumored) hot. The bell that signaled for classes to start had already rung with the teacher walked in lazily with a coffee cup in hand. “Sorry kids, I just needed some coffee.” His voice was velvety and it made most of the girls in the room sigh. Kiara’s head snapped up from her desk when she heard it, it wasn’t that she was smitten with the sound of it but the familiarity of it. It was like she had heard it in a different life time.

The man that stood in from of the class room seemed very young, maybe just fresh out of college. And as the girls rumors had been true, he was very hot. He had fine dark brown hair and blue eyes, his face was matured and handsome. He had a perfect physic that put made him look not too bulky but not at all scrawny. ‘Where have you seen his face before?!’ Her inner thoughts were nagging at her.

“Hello class, my name is Mr. Johnson. But I’d Prefer if you just called me Hale.” He said writing his name on the board then turning to face the classroom of students. His gaze fell over Kiara and the two just stared at each other for a few seconds then a old memory hit her like a speeding train. She gripped her hand over her heart and felt as it began to rise in its beats. She began to hyper ventilate and she fainted. The class gasped. Fainting was a movement Kiara Paxton just did not do.

People ran to her aid. Hale came racing to her side. “Is she alright?!” “What do we do?!” “Oh dear lord, I hope she’s okay!” Things like this were shouted. Logan pushed through the crowd of people and picked her up bridal style. “I’ll take her to the nurses office, Sir” He glared at Hale. Hale knew what this boy was, what this....this degenerate was. This boy was inferior in all ways to Kiara and shouldn’t even have the privilege of being in her presence, well at least this is Hale thought.

“But your new here? How could you find the nurse’s office?!” Some boy protested in jealousy; how heroic it would seem to be carrying an unconscious girl to the nurse because he was concerned for her (That’s what the boys thought of this situation). “I have a map of the school in my pocket.” He stated simply and left the room. When in the halls, Logan put Kiara gently over his shoulder so he could get out his map and find his way to the nurse’s office. He thought it quite funny how when he first arrived the thought of this girl would of made him terribly angry but one glance at her and he had become infatuated.

Lacey, Skye, Ayi, Lily, and Dawn’s heads all shot up from there papers, at the same time, from different classes. The girls could feel something burning and itching inside of them. Something was wrong with one of their sisters. They could feel it. The girls couldn’t figure out later how they knew but they excused themselves from class and walked the halls. Eventually, they meet up with each other. “Are you guys okay?!” Lily asked. They all nodded. “But...if we’re okay. Maybe something’s wrong with Kiara?” Skye asked looking back and forth between the girls.

“Improbable. That in very unscientific.” Lacey muttered under her breath. “What was that?” Dawn looked at her. “Well, how did we all have a feeling that something is wrong? How? It’s so... unrealistic....” Lacey clarified. “Well, the world is full of unknown things we’ll probably never understand. Now can we just go see if Kiara’s okay?” Ayi said hurriedly. Then they all nodded and raced down the halls at motor speed. “I think she said she had geography 7th period.” Skye remembered and they went toward that classroom.

Logan finally found his way to the nurse’s office. Only to find that no one was there. He sighed tiredly and put Kiara on one of the very stiff looking rubbery beds that you always see in hospitals. He sat down in a chair next to the bed and waited...and waited... and waited some more for a teacher, a nurse, any form of staff to come into the room but no one ever did. So he decided to fix her up himself. He pushed her gently, trying to wake her up. Kiara stayed the same way for a few seconds and then her eyes started to flutter open. “W-what’s going on?” She mumbled to herself, not expecting someone to answer her. So she was startled when she heard Logan say “You fainted in class.”.

Kiara sat up from the bed using her elbows. “Impossible. I do no faint.” She ground out to him as if he were a small child. This made him smile. “Well, there’s a first to everything.” He said with a laugh. Kiara stared at him. “You have a nice laugh.” She told him, then her hand jolted up to her mouth. ‘I can’t believe I just told him that!’ Her mind scolded her. He smiled and she saw he had perfect straight, pearly white teeth. “Thanks.” He said.

Logan stood up and got a plastic bag, he saw a small cooler and opened it up. He put as much ice in it as he could then wrapped it and gave it to Kiara. “Thanks, my head does hurt... a little.” She said, only adding the last part because she didn’t want to seem weak. Logan noticed this but didn’t say a word; he was just starting to get on her good side and he wasn’t going back. Kiara held the bag to her head and laid back on the bed.

“So why did you faint exactly?” He questioned. “I...I don’t remember...” She whispered. Kiara tried and tried to remember what had happened but it just wouldn’t come to her thoughts. “Oh well.” Kiara shrugged.

The girls ran to the Geography classroom and peeked through the window in the door. Only to find that Kiara wasn’t in the room. Everyone’s facial expressions seemed to be a little distressed. Ayi opened the door and stepped inside with confidence. “Um, Mr. Johnson... I mean Hale, I need to ask you something.” She said. The sisters had the whole room’s undivided attention. “Does it have to do with your sister, Kiara?” He seemed to the answer himself but was still intent on asking. “Uh, Yes actually it does.” Dawn said with more than a little suspicion in her voice. “She fainted during class and a boy named Logan took her to the Nurse’s office. The girls stood there, as if not believing a word he said then raced out of the room at full speed.

“So, I hear those girls are your sisters.” Logan said starting up a conversation. Kiara sighed, she knew where this was headed but nodded anyway. “How can that be when you all look nothing alike, plus your all the same age.” He tilted his head to the side. ‘ugh. Why does he have to be so cute while being so annoying!’ Kiara thought. “Well, we were all adopted from the same woman, from the same orphanage, at the same age. Everyone else calls it odd, we... call it a miracle. I’d hate to think the life we would’ve had if Mr. & Mrs. Paxton hadn’t adopted us. And if you think that is strange, we all showed up out of the blue. We were just left at the doorstep but all at different times, there was no record of us anywhere. So the six of us just share the same birthday.” Kiara finished, most of the story had been said with much edge in her voice but Logan could tell that it was all real.

“Oh.” He said stupidly. ‘Nice move Logan!’ he scolded himself sarcastically. At that moment; Skye, Dawn, Ayi, Lily, and Lacey started to bang on the door loudly. “Kiara, are you in there?” They asked. Logan smiled when he saw Kiara roll her eyes, but he could see that she had a small smile playing on her lips. Logan got up from his chair and opened the door. The girls had been leaning up against the door to see if they could hear anything, so when he opened the door... they fell onto the floor inside the room. They girls jumped up off the floor and dusted themselves off. Kiara snorted.

“Geez, you guys make so much noise for one little thing.” Kiara laughed. The girls came closer to her bed. “You’re not just ‘one little thing’, Kiara! Your our sister, if anything happened to you... we’d be lost forever in a dark pit of despair” Skye told her, looking straight into Kiara’s eyes. The others nodded and when they saw tears come to the corners of Kiara’s eyes, they all came into a group hug. Logan was starting to feel a little put-out and didn’t want to interrupt the girls, so he slipped out of the room and back to class. Kiara noticed he was gone but the others had forgotten all about him.

The bell rang and all the girls went back to their previous classes to get their things. Kiara walked into the room and saw Hale sitting down at his desk, most likely grading papers. He didn’t even look when he said “Your things are over here.”. Kiara shifted uneasily, She wasn’t quite sure but she felt like his face was familiar. She slowly came closer to his desk. Finally, he looked up at her and laughed at her expression. “Don’t worry, I won’t bite.” He said and Kiara felt like he left out the “Much” part. He looked nice and sweet but those are usually the people with a bad secret.

Hale pushed back his chair and pulled out her backpack from under his desk. “I moved it so the other kids won’t step on it.” He said simply as he handed it to her, looking straight into her eyes. Kiara started to feel a bit off and grabbed her quickly. “Bye Mr. Johnson.” She whispered and ran out of the room. Her sisters were already waiting for her. “you know, that guy is overly familiar! Where have I seen him before?” Dawn asked about Hale as they walked toward their Suburban. “I don’t know but I don’t like him one bit...” Kiara mumbled.

Prologue & Chapter 1

Prologue:

_____________________________________________________________________________________

Darkness was filtering through every room in the castle, which was normal. It was the odd eeriness that was hovering around every corner. Usually, there would have been at least one bubbly girl skip through but there was no one. Hale wasn’t sure what to make of this.

Hale heard a faint cry from down the hall... the queen’s bedroom. He paused for a mere moment and then raced down to the large door. The proceeded to knock hardly on it until a maid answered it. She seemed to be very cautious. The girl yanked him inside then slammed the door closed and locked it quickly.

But Hale wasn’t paying attention to that. He was watching six small bundles in a cradle. Even though, the blankets covered his view he knew it what it was... six babies. He turned sharply on his heel to look at the maid. “are they all girls?” he asked and the girl nodded. It was then that he noticed that the Queen was barely hanging on.

He came to her bed side. “My queen?” He stared at her intently. The poor thing looked so sickly, her face so pale but still the most beautiful he had ever seen. “Please tell Icarus...I...I love...him... and, and I’m glad that I died for something so important...” She said through violent coughs. Then she was gone, she was no more.

At that moment, King Icarus through open the locked door with such strength Hale had never seen the king do. Icarus was by his wife’s body in seconds and he stared at her as if he wanted to cry but that was impossible... for vampire’s can’t cry.

Chapter one:

_____________________________________________________________________________________

Light trickled through the curtains and Kiara thrust a pillow over her head, begging to no one really for 5 more minutes of sleep. Lacey, one of her 5 sisters pushed her out of bed. “Get up!” Lacey hollered. Kiara sat up from the floor rubbing her head and glaring at Lacey. Kiara studied her features; Lacey had light brown hair and chocolate colored eyes, she had a sort of baby face even though she was 17 and she had a few freckles here and there on her cheeks. All in all, she was attractive. But she’s sort of a genius, like as in a 5.0 grade average.

Kiara scowled at her. She loved her sister and sometimes was sad that they weren’t truly blood related. Yes, that’s right they were adopted. All of them were. The couple that took them in had wanted a big family but due to some complications, the woman (Mrs. Paxton) couldn’t have children. So they adopted 6 girls all around the same age. But that had been a long time ago, they had been adopted at 2.

Then her more gentle sister, Lily came and helped her to stand up. Lily had hair that was black and it cut off just a inch or two from her ears. She had grass green eyes that really pierced through your soul if you looked into them to long. She seemed to always have a soft smile playing on her lips, even when things didn’t seem to be going her way.

Kiara thanked her then looked at the clock. “Crap! Why didn’t you wake me up earlier?!” She yelled when she saw that they had about 30 minutes to get to school and it was the first day too! She scrambled to the bathroom. She took a quick shower and then put on her clothes, a t-shirt with a skull and cross bones on & a pair of skinny jeans. Kiara didn’t have to much time to focus on fashion today.

As she brushed her teeth she looked at herself in the mirror. Kiara had hair that was so long it went a little past her butt and it was so blonde it almost looked like it was a shiny white. She had aquamarine eyes and a nice thin face.

After she got ready, she went down stairs. Her 3 other sisters were there too; Ayi, Skye, and Dawn. Ayi had curly brown hair & light brown eyes. Skye had very long, layered black hair (That Kiara adored) and eyes so dark brown they almost seemed black. Then dawn, She had nice shoulder length strawberry blonde hair with dark blue/gray eyes.

They took their Chevy Suburban Half-ton that they had gotten for Christmas. Of course they have Lily drive, since she was the more calm one. If anyone else drove, they would probably run over a poor old woman while head-banging to a song they liked. Kiara pressed the play button on the CD player and the Evanescence song: Whisper came on.

Lacey sat ‘shot-gun’ because she didn’t want to sit back with the other girls when they were listening to Evanescence. Kiara, Ayi, Skye, and Dawn were singing the words and they weren’t that bad. It was the dancing that Lacey thought made them look insane. Dawn had her hands up in the air and were waving them around randomly and Skye was doing the ‘Robot’, while Kiara and Ayi did ‘the Wave’ together. The melancholy music and their random dances didn’t go together but it sure was interesting.

When they arrived at school most of the spots had been taken, so they had to park all the way in the back; which caused them to run all the way up to the school and with only 5 more minutes till the bell was going to ring, signaling Home-room. “I can’t believe it’s our Senior year!” Skye cheered in a song voice. Dawn put her arm through Ayi’s. “There’s gonna be lots of parties!” She yelled with enthusiasm. Then Lacey chimed in, “and trips to all kinds of places!” She said with a dreamy faraway look in her eyes. And the next thing Ayi said was something they could all relate to, “BUT MOST OF ALL... SUPER CUTE boys!!!” They all laughed.

As they got toward the entrance of the school, the girls noticed a couple of boys waiting there with anxious looks on their faces. Skye and Dawn went running at them. Kiara instantly knew who the boys were, Steven and Jack. They were Skye and Dawn’s boyfriends. Dawn Kissed Jack on the cheek, while Skye took Steven’s hand. “Aw, How cute... they waited for them...” Kiara said sarcastically with a roll of her eyes. Skye and Dawn turned sharply and glared at her. Lacey nudged her in the rib cage, “don’t ruin their cute moment!” She hissed in Kiara’s ear.

“your just jealous because you don’t have a boyfriend right now!” Lily said with an innocent giggle which made Kiara even madder. “I’m not jealous!” She insisted. “What-ever..” Ayi said and then focus on the guys. “Hey um, boys... neither wouldn’t happen to have a brother or a something?” She said with hope in her eyes. Ayi sure was boy-crazy. Jack laughed, “Yeah, I have a brother but you’re not going to like him.” He and dawn seemed to be snickering together. Ayi tilted her head to the side. “Oh? And why not?” She pressed. “Because he’s 6 and it’d be a little weird for that.” He answered and everyone (but Ayi) broke out in laughter. Ayi mumbled something under her breath and started to head to her own Home-room.

It was then that group separated. Kiara, Lily, and Lacey went to Lit and Dawn, Jack, Skye, Steven, and Ayi went to Art. Kiara flung her bag over her shoulder and walked slowly to class, as if she wanted to be late. Lily and Lacey didn’t plan on that so they ran to class without her. Kiara listened to the silence, she found the quiet kind of enjoyable.

As soon as she got to the Lit room’s door and walked inside the bell rang. ‘I have perfect timing...’ she thought with a small smirk. The class was already in their seats and they stared at her intently, including her sisters. Kiara didn’t act like she had a care in the world as she made her way to the back of the room to sit in between Lily and Lacey.

The good thing was that the teacher, Mrs. Whitman was really cool and you could say Kiara was her ‘teacher’s pet’. The two had clicked a long time ago, when she had first started high school and Kiara had dropped a book she had been writing in front of Mrs. Whitman. And much to Kiara’s dismay the teacher read it. Mrs. Whitman had been impressed by her writing skills and since then the two spent a lot of the school break time’s together just talking about stuff. But that had been when Kiara hadn’t been one of her own students but now it was going to be a long more fun in Lit class this year for Kiara.

Mrs. Whitman was just beginning to write the book they were going to be reading this year on the board when the class-room door opened up. A boy no one had seen before walked inside. He had short black hair and really dark brown eyes that he used to glare at Kiara, Lacey, and Lily with pure hate. He also had muscles he could barely hide through his T-shirt. All in all, he was eye-candy and every girl in the room as side from the sisters were drooling over him.

Kiara and Lacey were suspicious of him, even Lily didn’t like that evil look he gave them. The boy thrust a paper on Mrs. Whitman’s desk, making her jump slightly and take it. Then he went and sat right behind Kiara and it took all of the sister’s strength not to look at him. though, they could feel his glare burning onto their backs. “Everyone, this is Logan. He just moved to town yesterday. So become his friend and so him around school and town.” She said as she looked at his papers. Then went back to the board.

The rest of class, Kiara tried her hardest not to look back at Logan. When the bell rang, all three girls let out a sigh of relief and scurried out the door before Logan could even stand up. as they walked down the halls, they calmed down. “That guy may be cute but he sure does look mean!” Lily said quietly, trying to make sure if he was around them. “Yeah, He glared at our backs most of class. What kinda weirdo does that?” Lacey complained. Kiara shrugged, “let’s just hope he doesn’t sit by us tomorrow”.

The next class, all of the sisters had together. It was math with Mr. Bithers and everybody really disliked this teacher. The girls sat in the back of the room; much to Lacey’s dismay because she loved to sit in the front. As he started telling the class about the procedures of the this class this year, Kiara, Lily, and Lacey were passing notes to Dawn, Ayi, and Skye about this new ‘Logan’ boy. The other girls seemed intrigued by the boy’s odd behavior. “Well, if he’s as hot as you say he is... I don’t care how he acts!” Ayi said in a whisper to Kiara.

The next few classes were uneventful for the girls. It was really all just the teachers explaining how the year would proceed. Kiara was especially glad when the lunch time rolled around. Though, no one was happy when they saw what was for lunch... mystery meat surprise. The thing about this meal was that there probably wasn’t even any meat any it. Some people have said they actually saw the (so called) ‘food’ walk right off their plate.

So this put Kiara in a majorly bad mood and no one wanted to be around Kiara in a bad mood. The girls sat at their usual table. Lots of kids came flooding to their table. “Hey, How was your summer!” “You girls are looking really hot this year.” “Oh... my... god! I love your hair!” These comments and many more were thrown at them. The sisters were sort of ‘popular’ at their school but they weren’t the preps. The girls are the most pretty in school so everyone wants to be their friend. The sisters hated it...well, all except Ayi who liked the boys fawning over her ‘beauty’.

The most preppy and annoying girl sat at a table near them and glared in envy. Her little groupies were glaring as well, though they secretly wanted to go over to the girls too. “How can everyone like them so much!!! I’m the head cheerleader! I’m the one who should be having fan boys!” She huffed and her lackeys nodded in agreement. Kiara heard them from the other table and stared at them for a few seconds then smiled as if they were old friends and pulled her hand out from under the table, then stuck her middle finger up at the girls. The head cheerleader, Britney (Such a name that reminds me of cheerleaders) screamed in anger and hit the table.

Kiara turned back when she heard the room become silent. Even her sisters were staring as Logan walked through the crowd around their table and sat down in front of Kiara. The girls were more than just a little taken a back. “You’re not even going to ask if you can sit here?” Lacey questioned as they watched the boy continue to eat his lunch. He looked up at them with an amused expression. “Why should I have to ask to sit at a table? This is America, I can do what I want.” He stated simply then went back to what he was doing.

Even, Ayi thought this boy was rude and didn’t want anything to do with him; even though he was amazingly handsome. The crowd around their table had disappeared, much to the joy of the girls and now the lunch room was completely quiet as they watched the group. Dawn, Lily, Ayi and Skye squirmed in their seats but Kiara and Lacey weren’t taking anymore crap from this guy. “Could you please leave? This table is used by us and our friends.” Kiara said friends as if he weren’t and never would be one. “No, I won’t leave” He said as he looked her straight in the eyes. “I said, Leave” Her voice boomed throughout the cafeteria. Logan’s expression then turned to hurt and after a few seconds, he took his things and left.

The room started to feel up with rumors about what had gone on as soon as he was out of the door. The girls huddled together as Jack and Steven showed up late because of being held after class. The sisters told the two boys what had happened. “That guy really freaks me out!” Lily confessed and Ayi nodded. “He may have a pretty face but he isn’t the nicest guy I’ve ever met.”. Lacey came out of her little reverie. “What I don’t understand is, why does he look at us with such hatred, pure loathing. Well, all excepted Kiara of course.” She whispered. This took Kiara by surprise. “What are you talking about?!” She exclaimed with anger.

“Didn’t you see him glancing looks at you?” Skye questioned with a raised eyebrow. “No, not really. I was trying to figure out a way to get him away from us.” Kiara said with a intensity in her voice. Since they were all two, no one got very close to the girls but each other. When there was a thunderstorm when they were younger, they didn’t go to their adopted parents... they all huddled into one bed. No one but her sisters had ever seen Kiara cry and she didn’t even do it in front of them offend. She had to make sure she was brave to protect the others, to protect all of them. If anyone got to close, they got pushed away from the girls lives.

“Well, he was looking at you. And the way you just told him to leave and he did, like some puppy following his masters command. It was so weird.” Dawn commented. The bell rang, signaling for the students to get back to class and Kiara threw away all of her uneaten lunch. She went out of her way to leave the room without her sisters, she was tired of talking about Logan.
